“He’s Gone.”

Dial tone.
My heart is trying to break
free from my body.
The roaring from around me
Turns to a silence,
Louder than anything I’ve ever heard.
I want to move,
I want to scream,
I want to cry,
I want to mourn,
But I can’t
All I can do is stand,
And stare.
